In basketball terms Beamer Benz or Bentley will now be referred to as Lebron, Kobe or Kevin, as in Kevin Durant. After having now watched this kid play this season he is hands down the third best player in the league (Sorry D Wade, Melo and Dwight). If you haven't had the chance to see what this kid does on a basketball court night in and night out you are really missing out.
Durant is averaging roughly 30 pts/game, 8 rebs, 3 assts, 2 steals and a block shot on top of the fact he will now be bringing the OKC Thunder to their first ever playoff birth. This kid is a beast out there, you give him the ball and he scores period. If you look side to side at his stats vs LBJ's you can see how good he is, they have identical stats per game with Lebron dishing out 5 more assists per while Durant shoots 90% from the free throw line compared to LBJ's 74%.
Kobe who is averaging slightly lower in every category than both LBJ & Durant has the excuse that his team is much more talented. In my opinion, you throw LBJ or Durant on the Lakers they are as good if not better than the Lakers are with Kobe.
Anyway the point is taking all factors into consideration (including age) if I was starting an NBA team right now other than Lebron, Durant would be the player I would build my franchise around. He is a 6'9", 215 lbs. scoring machine, who rebounds and plays more defense than the usual power scorer.
I'll tell you right now if the Knicks can't land Lebron this offseason I wouldn't mind waiting until 2011 when Durant becomes a free agent, watching this kid light up the Garden would be almost as good as Lebron (I am not even joking).
P.S. The Blazers seem to always fuck up the draft, they take Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan and now they miss out on Durant by taking Greg Oden who may be the biggest hyped up bust in NBA history.
