The Greatest Cornerback Combo Ever??

Ahhh, the smell of baseball is back in the air. With the Mets (will be the comeback team of the year) and the Yankees (another year, another bought playoff berth) both reporting to Spring Training over the past week it is almost that time of year again. But we are going to put baseball on the back burner as of now until we get a little closer to Opening Day.

What I am here to talk about today is, the rumors swirling around the NFL of the potential possiblity of the NY JETS making a deal for perennial shut down corner Nnamdi Asomugha of the Oakland Raiders and teaming him up with the BEST corner in the league Darrelle Revis. Now I am not the type to think deals like this normally get done but I see no reason why both teams won't be gunning to make this happen (this would be like Lebron and Wade playing together next year). On one hand you have the Raiders who are the biggest mess in football carrying around there 300 lb. $60 million quarterback who might not even be more athletic then these guys...

The point here is that this is a team who needs to figure out the path that they want to take to rebuild this team and I don't think even with Asomugha being as good as he is, is the player they should be building around. Now onto the Jets, this is a no brainer. You make this happen and Rex Ryan can start sending dead fish to Belichick and Brady because Moss and Welker might as well be sleeping with the fish when they play this team. Revis allows the Jets to be only one of the handful of teams who leave a corner to play man all game long, imagine having two players on the field who literally take out every teams top 2 receivers, this is unheard of. Kerry Rhodes pretty much does nothing now without an excuse, if this trade was to go down then at least he will have a reason.

Too make this happen I think it will either involve the Jets giving up their #1 pick along with a 3rd rounder, or the possibility of the Raiders asking for David Harris along with a 2nd or 3rd Rounder. I am all for doing both of these. I was the first one to say HELL NO!! to David Harris and a #1 pick for Brandon Marshall but to have the opportunity to see the greatest cornerback tandem in NFL history throw on the GREEN AND WHITE is something I am not willing to pass up.

As I write this I can only imagine what Rex Ryan is doing now. Sitting shirtless in his backyard, drinking a Budweiser, eating some Nachos and grinning at the fact that it will be Belichick kissing his RING next year.
